Asian Society for Implementation Science

Why ASIS?

A Regional Professional Home for Implementation Science

Implementation science is inherently multidisciplinary. People contributing to the field may work in public health, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, behavioral science, social science, economics, engineering, data science, education, management, or public policy.

Many implementation scientists do not have a clearly recognized professional home within their institutions or countries. This can limit access to mentorship, collaborators, training, funding, and career development.

ASIS provides an umbrella organization that brings these communities together.

Why a Regional Society Is Needed

Asia is home to diverse populations, cultures, economies, political systems, health systems, and implementation environments. Approaches developed elsewhere may not always address the realities of Asian settings.

The region requires implementation knowledge that:

  • Responds to local and national priorities
  • Recognizes differences within and between countries
  • Includes low-, middle-, and high-income settings
  • Reflects the strengths of communities and local systems
  • Supports locally led research and practice
  • Addresses structural and implementation inequities
  • Promotes responsible adaptation rather than uncritical transfer
  • Strengthens regional leadership and South–South collaboration

ASIS creates a platform through which Asia can contribute more strongly to the global development of implementation science.
